Our Miraculous Story

Beginning with one large family of children who needed a home,

God multiplied their gifts and talents to reach a continent with His love.

Asia Impact Ministries began in 1999, when a young woman named Tammy began sensing God’s call to care for children in extreme risk situations in South Asia. After moving to the region, she connected with several local Jesus -followers who had a similar heart, and they began praying for how to engage. When presented with two siblings who had lost their mother and whose father was dying of AIDs,  Tammy and team  took in their first children. Since that time, through many challenges and joys, K-Family expanded to include 46 children over the coming years, as well as  reuniting 16 others to their biological families.

At K-Family the children were adopted, lived as a true family and received all the love, encouragement, and support expected in such an environment. The staff of the home was consistent for many years and equally a part of the family, bringing much needed stability to the children.  The children grew up and lived at home until moving out for careers, ministry, or marriage, but they continue to engage deeply as a loving, bonded family and regularly visit. Grandchildren have even entered the K-Family  and are treasured deeply.

This region of the world has a seemingly endless sea of children at risk. Early on, the decision was made to only take in to K-Family  the children who truly had nowhere else to go to, but they desired that many more at risk children could also thrive in their own homes, with their biological families who loved them. Recognizing that the barriers to this are often financial, the “Family Connections” program was born. Over a span of more than  twenty years, the program has helped over 300 children to attend school and allowed many to begin to break the generational cycle of poverty.

Focusing on widows and single moms, the program has brought hope to almost 200 families through child sponsorship, food provision, medical and dental check ups  and emergency healthcare funding, day and summer camps, an afterschool center, a tailoring training center for young women and more.  Since Tammy’s arrival in South Asia, her children have grown, and so has her vision. “Asia Impact Ministries” is the outflow of this vision God has given to Tammy – now expanded to bringing the good news of Jesus around the whole Asian region in many ways.

The kids are now grown have and moved out of the K-Family home physically, but remain connected relationally after having been raised with an intentional purpose of knowing God, knowing their identity as His beloved children, and desiring to see His Kingdom come in the world. With that foundation, many of the older children have moved on to start ministries of their own in difficult places around the South Asia region. “Sons and Daughters,” an arm of Asia Impact Ministries, was born to foster support and encouragement for these young adults and their families as they reach into dark, often unreached places with the love of Jesus.

Currently, 20  singles or family units are a part of Sons and Daughters.  Several  Business as Mission  endeavors have also been started by K-Family children including a school, coffee shop, and virtual services business, with more in the works.  In the last few years,  partly through walking alongside their own “Sons and Daughters” as they serve, AIM has also identified a significant need for cross cultural workers to have a place where they can pause for rest, reflection and spiritual encouragement. “Rest Retreat” provides this sacred space for ministry workers who share the same vision of  making Jesus known  in this region of the world.
